As of last week, I’ve been working at Fat Zebra for 5 years. (To celebrate, I caught up with my cardiologist.) In about a year and a half, it’ll be double the amount of time that I’ve worked anywhere else. So I think that has to count for something in both Fat Zebra’s favour and my own.
This week I was given some big news:
- The powers that be want to restructure my team
- This means the Tech Lead of Customer Experience role is now redundant
- BUT! I’ve received an offer to go work as an individual contributor in a different, very cool team
- Bonus: no pay cut.
Ironically, I was wearing my “This is actually my second rodeo” t-shirt while I received my second ever redundancy offer. But unlike the first time, there’s actually a pretty decent offer on the other end. I can either:
- Take the redundancy package and go find another fully-remote job.
- Stay at Fat Zebra, and work on things that I’ve not had the chance to yet.
It would be insane to not explore both options. They’re both really excellent!
So I’m putting this post up to see what else is out there and so I can have a fair comparison to make between my two choices. If you’re hiring a fully-remote, Australian senior / lead developer with a lot of Ruby + JavaScript experience, I’d be happy to have a chat with you.
