The Name
One of the more common questions I get asked, right at the top of the list with “How did you get so good looking?” and “How can I be as smart as you?” is “How did you get the name ‘Radar’?”
I got the name because I’m always listening. People would be talking about me at the other end of the house and I would hear my name in some conversation and I would come out to see what they were talking about. I also play the part of “not paying attention, but really am” very well.
Common Misconceptions
Q. You were born in a Radar dish / left there as a small child? A. No. However, I have been to largest Radar dish in Australia in Parkes.
Q. Did you get the name from MASH? A. No. As much as I think MASH is an awesome show, I did not take the name from Radar. I am my own Radar.
