GrowlMail crashes Mail

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Today when I upgraded to Safari 4 (beta) and after the two updates I installed, I tried launching Mail but it crashed with a “This application quit unexpectedly”, then it went on to blame the GrowlMail plugin. To fix this, I found this forum post on MacRumors. TheReason actually means to go into ~/Library/Mail/Bundles and remove GrowlMail.mailbundle.

This is a temporary fix as this (obviously) disables GrowlMail, but Mail launches. If you can put up with not receiving growl notifications every time you receive a notification you’ve won a lottery you didn’t enter, then go for it.

Progress Bar

If you’re missing the old-style progress bar like I am: there’s a good tip here with a whole bunch of other tips like changing the positioning of the tabs.

url

So today I learned me some Sinatra after seeing drnic’s tweet about a url generator for the mocra.com site. I thought it couldn’t be that hard and it wasn’t.

What I came up with was “url” (pronounced like “earl”). You can host this on your site and provide people with urls that contain your site’s name. Enjoy.

This app is hosted at http://u.mocra.com now too, providing tinier URLs (by ~2 characters) than other services (only because we only have 17 URLs)!

RFC: rBoard

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

So I have this little hobby of mine called rBoard. It’s gained some attention in recent times and I’m wondering what people want in this forum system that isn’t already implemented, or could be improved. Leave a comment and your feedback is appreciated.
